Stretch ceilings are the ideal choice for museums, galleries and other public spaces, affording extensive flexibility and creativity to architects and designers within these truly unique environments. All manner of objects and artworks – from sculptures and paintings through to photography, garments, models and relics – can be showcased to stunning effect using stretch membranes.
Each NEWMAT Australia project is entirely custom, and our stretch membranes have the ability to create drama or subtly shift the focus onto the artworks themselves, depending on project requirements. Options include backlighting or perimeter lighting, projection, printing and the incorporation of mechanical services and signage.
Our membranes are available in 200+ colours and 15 finishes, and can act as a neutral blackout layer or as a light-diffusing sheet to allow glimpses of the objects and existing architectural structures whilst respecting heritage elements. The acoustic variants of our membranes enhance sound levels and eliminate reverberations, crucial in high-traffic areas with soaring ceilings. All elements are designed by the team at NEWMAT Australia – from the membranes and complete lighting systems through to the framing for ceiling, wall and 3D shaped projects.
NEWMAT Australia offers sheet widths of up to 5.35m, resulting in fewer visible seams, and our standard finishes have a BCA fire rating of Group 1 and Group 2.
We operate throughout Australia and New Zealand, with our head office and showroom in Sydney. Samples, product brochures, and project images are available upon request.
