Newmat Australia is proud to have been in collaboration on this landmark project, the redevelopment and refurbishment of the Peninsula University Hospital (previously known as Frankston Hospital). The grand feature of this hospital entrance is a series of tree branch like columns enhancing Newmat Australia’s 21 leaf shaped faux skylights, reflecting the architect’s vision for an uplifting, calm and intuitive journey through the hospital with expansive natural daylight.
A New Chapter for Peninsula University Hospital
For decades, Peninsula University Hospital has been a vital healthcare landmark for Melbourne’s south-east, serving the growing communities of the Mornington Peninsula and beyond. Delivered through a $1.1 Billion redevelopment, the former low-rise campus has been transformed into an innovative vertical hospital, anchored by a striking 12-storey clinical services tower and podium.
A big thank you to BSCG: Bates Smart/Conrad Garget (now Architectus), Lendlease (as part of the Exemplar Health consortium) and NDY Light for the opportunity to have Newmat Australia collaborate on such an important civic project. It’s rewarding to see thoughtful architecture, innovative materials and strong partnerships come together to create spaces that enhance patient care and community wellbeing.
